    Why we love this recipe

    You know what’s great? BACON.

You know what’s ever better? Having this easy peasy bacon cheese rolls appetizer on hand for a dinner party, the cocktail hour, some tailgating or when you just feel like spoiling yourself with a little bacon!

And if that wasn’t enough, one of other great things about it is that it only calls for three ingredients – bacon, cream cheese and bread – all of which I have on hand at all times.

AND, the whole thing comes together in less than an hour, more than half of which is having these babies crisp up in the oven.

    Ingredients you need

Ingredients needed for bacon cheese rolls.

    Ingredient notes and substitutions

    • Bacon: You want the regular thin cut kind for this recipe – the thick cut needs too much time to crisp up.
    • Bread: Get the nice squishy sandwich style for this one.
    • Cream Cheese: Make sure it is at room temperature for easy spreading!

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities and nutritional information.

    How to make this recipe

Baking pan lined with foil and with a cooling rack on top.

STEP 1: Preheat your oven to 350 and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Put a cooling rack on top of the baking sheet and spritz the rack with cooking spray.

Bread slices spread with cream cheese on a cutting board.

STEP 2: Cut the crusts off of the bread slices and spread each slice with cream cheese.

STEP 3: Cut each slice in half and roll them up, cheese side in.

Bacon cheese rolls ready for the oven.

STEP 4: Wrap each cheese roll with a piece of the bacon and secure it with a toothpick.   Place the rolls on the cooling rack and pop the whole thing in the oven.

Bacon cheese rolls out of the oven on a rack.

STEP 5: Cook for 30 minutes.  If you want the bacon crispier, turn the broiler on for a minute or two – watch them carefully!

Let your rolls cool for a few minutes, then pop them on to a pretty plate and serve ’em up!

    Recipe FAQs

Can I use any kind of bacon?

You can, but I highly recommend using regular sliced bacon instead of the thick cut variety, because it will cook up easier and more evenly.

    Can these be made ahead?

I wish I could say yes, but no, they need to be enjoyed pretty quickly after they come out of the oven. You can put them together ahead of time though, and then bake when you are ready!

How can I make these bacon cheese rolls Even More Delicious?

Brush them with a little bit of maple syrup, and sometimes I also dust them with cornmeal. The. Best.

    Have a question that I didn’t cover?

Leave your question (or comment or suggestion) in the Comments box below the recipe and I will answer pronto!

I mean, just look at them.
