Why we love this recipe
This is one of what I call my secret weapon recipes. Secret weapon recipes are those recipes that you can completely, totally, 1000% rely on to work Every Single Time, and that are also a little bit different and a whole lot of delicious.
I count my scrambled eggs with ricotta in this category, as well as my recipe for Chicken Carbonara and my beloved Blue Dory cookie recipe too.
These delectable biscuits are the biscuit version of my secret weapon recipe.
The combination of the sour cream and the butter makes these babies taste like they are already buttered. And how fabulous is that?
Almost as good is the fact that all you need to do is mix up these three ingredients, scoop the batter into a muffin tin, bake them until they are golden, and then try and exercise enough self control not to eat them all in one sitting.
As in, the first time I made them, the Southern husband ate all of them.
In one day.
A full biscuit recipe, gone just like that. It was both alarming and highly satisfying all at the same time…and here’s how it’s done.
Ingredients you need
Ingredient notes and substitutions
- Bisquick: This baking mix is also great for making pancakes and waffles, and because of that you can usually find it in the breakfast aisle of your supermarket.
- Sour Cream: Either regular or low-fat will work…we don’t recommend non-fat for this recipe.
- Butter: We recommend salted butter for this recipe for the best taste, but you can make it with unsalted if you prefer.

How to make this recipe
STEP 1: Mix together Bisquick, melted butter and sour cream.
STEP 2: Spoon into your muffin tin.
STEP 3: Bake for 20 minutes or until just golden.
Yup, that’s it. That’s all you need for what I solemnly promise will be some of the best biscuits you are ever going to eat.
Not that anyone would ever do that. (Right, honey?)
Recipe FAQs
This is a baking mix combination of flour, fat, leavening and salt, and it is usually found in the breakfast aisle of your supermarket because it is a popular ingredient for homemade pancakes…but there’s a lot more you can do with it. Like make these butter biscuits!
Like all baked goods, these biscuits are at their very best the same day they are baked, but you can definitely make them a few hours ahead of when you need them.

I just wanted to say again, absolutely amazing!!
I just texted all my biscuit loving friends.
I did want to add that I used light sour cream
( that’s all I had on hand)
I used a large muffin pan but the recommended temperature and time cooked work out great.

What is “Bisquik”? I don’t believe we have that here in Australia.

Biscquick is a baking mix made of flour, leaving and a little butter. Here’s a link that shows you how to make your own: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Substitute-for-Bisquick
