Welcome to my new favorite way to use up all those bits and pieces left in the bottom of your potato chip and pretzel bags…I like to call them Snack Attack Chocolate Chip Cookies, and they satisfy your sweet and salty cravings all at the same time!

I know, you are probably happy with your current snack disposal method of just tipping the almost empty bag into your mouth (SAME!), but do give these snack attack cookies a try the next time you are tidying out your pantry. I promise they are worth it!

There is nothing quite like a bite of warm chocolate chip cookie with a little bit of salty snack in it to make your whole day. A few cookies and a cup of warm fresh mint tea…ahhhhh.

These make nice thick chocolate chip cookies because of the extra added ingredients, which is a bonus in my book! :)

Ingredients You Need to Make Snack Attack Cookies!

    • Flour
    • Baking Soda
    • Butter
    • Brown Sugar
    • Egg
    • Vanilla Extract
    • Chocolate Chips
    • Pretzels
    • Potato Chips

A couple of ingredient pointers here. I finally figured out that if you take the wrapper off of a cold stick of butter BEFORE it comes to room temperature, you won’t have to deal with getting the soft butter off the wrapper. (I know, it takes me a while!)

And second, if your chips and pretzels aren’t already in little pieces, just pop them in a plastic bag and give them a few gentle smacks with a rolling pin or something similar. We are looking for smallish chunks.

Here’s How to Make Snack Attack Chocolate Chip Cookies!

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 375 and line a couple of cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.

STEP 2: Put 1 1 /2 cups of flour and a quarter teaspoon of baking soda in a mixing bowl and stir with a whisk until combined.  Set aside.

STEP 3: Mix 10 tablespoons of room temperature butter and a cup of brown sugar together in another mixing bowl until fluffy, then add an egg and a teaspoon of vanilla.  Mix again.

STEP 4: Stir in a cup of chocolate chips, a half cup of broken pretzels and a cup of crushed potato chips.

STEP 5: Drop by tablespoonfuls onto the cookie sheets and bake for 12 minutes or until the cookies are browned along the edges.

STEP 6: Cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes, then remove to a cooking rack.  Eat one while they are still warm!

More Tips For Making Snack Attack Cookies!

Does it matter what type of chips or pretzels I use?

Not really! I like using ridged potato chips because they stand up better in the dough, but honestly anything hanging around in your pantry will work. Although if someone tries making these with Nacho Cheese Doritos, PLEASE TELL ME. I’m super tempted.

How long do these cookies last?

In my house, about 15 minutes. Under more normal circumstances, they will stay fresh for 3-4 days.

And there you have it…the Cookie of the Hour in my house. And maybe soon in your house too!
