This easy recipe for a skillet chocolate chip cookie bakes your favorite treat into one giant cookie, perfect for slicing up and topping with ice cream!
I do love my cast iron skillet for so many things (I’m looking at YOU, skillet pizza!) but I think my favorite thing might be this super duper easy skillet chocolate chip cookie.
What is a skillet chocolate chip cookie?
It’s one of the easiest ways I know to make cookies for a crowd! You mix up the classic chocolate chip cookie dough, but instead of scooping it out onto cookie sheets, you simply press it into your skillet and pop it in the oven.
More tips for making chocolate chip skillet cookies!
I love cast iron best, but any oven-safe 10 inch skillet is going to work just fine!
You sure can! A half cup of chopped walnuts or pecans would be delightful. You can also swap out the chocolate chips for white chocolate or butterscotch, or mix them up!
25 minutes later? A giant, warm, wonderful, Cookie Monster-sized chocolate chip cookie. Which I am trying hard not to eat too much of, because we do have this little event coming up, for which I already have my dress that I need to fit into.
Our latest wedding update is that the Southern daughter flew up this past weekend for her second to last dress fitting.
Some tulle from the underskirt got trimmed off, so I currently have it tied to the back of my desk chair for good luck. A little over a month to go. OH MY GOODNESS.
How to serve a skillet chocolate chip cookie!
Back at the skillet chocolate chip cookie, the easiest way to serve this one is to cut it up into wedges, just like a pie.
And while it is scrumptious all by itself, if you are like the Southern husband you will go for broke and pop some ice cream on the top.
His favorite is Talenti vanilla cinnamon gelato, but I expect good old vanilla would be delicious too.
There are millions of things you can make in a cast iron skillet, but if this is your first time around with one, I highly recommend breaking it in with this cookie! And don’t worry, this recipe will work just fine with a regular oven-safe skillet.
Happy giant cookie-baking!

Do you have any recommendations for increasing the recipe to fit a 12″ skillet? Thank you.

Mmmmmmm….warm chocolate chip cookie in a skillet. With ice cream. (wipes drool from chin) Since it’s Friday, we should guild that lily with some hot fudge and/or caramel sauce. And, of course, a big mug of red wine hot chocolate on the side. Gotta wash that cookie down with something! Sounds like the perfect supper to me! :)

This is SUCH a fun cookie to make with kids! They only issue I can see is that they will want to eat the whole thing when it comes out of the oven! :)
