Cool off in style with this easy, fruit-filled recipe for orange raspberry sangria! It’s the perfect treat for a warm summer’s day.
Welp, as I write this we are at T minus 1 in terms of the movers coming to pack us up. I have sorted and donated and labeled and marveled at the amount of STUFF we have accumulated over the 20 years we have been in this house.
We are now at the stage where we are having Zoom and Facebook and socially distanced goodbye calls and drinks and suppers with our nearest and dearest.
And amidst all of this moving hurricane activity, I am trying hard to say one last hello and goodbye to all the nooks and corners of this beloved house that is swirling with so many memories.
You KNOW this was the last room to get dis-assembled…
My friend and master craftsman Clark came and took apart that gorgeous desk that he made me so the movers could get it onto the truck.
I gathered up all my jillions of plates and bowls and other things I use to shoot with, and we lifted my magnet bars off the walls and carefully wrapped up my camera equipment.
But not before I took one last set of pictures!
For a recipe I am calling Kitchen Sink Tuna Salad, because I mixed up tuna with a whole bunch of random items I had not tossed or packed, and it was actually all kinds of delicious!
So at this point, I AM READY FOR A COCKTAIL.
A cool, summery, pretty, refreshing, calming cocktail, which finally brings me to the point of this post.
Here’s how you make orange raspberry sangria!
You start by making a little pot of simple syrup by simmering sugar and water until it is dissolved. Simple! Pop it in the fridge until it is cooled down.
When cocktail hour rolls around, pour the simple syrup into a small pitcher or a good-sized mason jar along with some white wine, a little rum and some fresh squeezed orange juice. Give it a good stir or shake.
Now grab some raspberries and smoosh them into the bottom of a couple of glasses. Fill the glasses half full with ice, and then divide the sangria mixture between the two glasses.
Top with a sprig of mint and a few more raspberries.
Put your feet up and take a nice refreshing sip. Ahhhhhhhh…..
I’ll be back in a few days – actually the day before our big move – with the last recipe I’m posting in my beloved state of New Jersey. Wish me luck and send me calming thoughts, okay?

Good luck on the move! I swear I read “orange ROSEMARY sangria” and was getting ready to run to my yard to steal a sprig from the plant I am growing. Hmm. I definitely need sone sangria right about now to cool iff from this almost 100 degree weather we’re having. I’m fresh out of raspberries, but I have some blacberries and I’m just going to substitute those!
I’m sure it will be delicious too!
Thanks Luz! And now that you mention it, orange rosemary sangria sounds pretty dang good – I’m going to have to figure that out! :)

Good luck, Kate! I moved long distance last year from a house where I had lived for 20 years, so know exactly what you are experiencing….major stress!! It will be worth it though when you are finally settled into your beautiful new home.
Thanks Barb! I’m definitely still in the stressed out part but I know it will be worth it. :)
