Tender flaked salmon, spicy sesame noodles and crunchy romaine come together for a delicious and healthy supper!
The Southern husband and I have a crush on salmon lately.
I’ve made it with buttered wine sauce, and and ;ast week I soaked it in bourbon, and before that I made a smoked salmon and cream cheese pizza. And I love salmon with a creamy tomato sauce.
But I think my favorite of all of these is this super easy flaked salmon with sesame noodles. The salmon is in little tender chunks, the noodles are in a zippy little sesame oil and soy sauce bath, and there’s some chopped romaine for crunch.
And some black sesame seeds because I have them in my spice drawer and sometimes I just NEED to sprinkle black sesame seeds on things.
Plus it gives me the chance to use my light blue plate with the fish on it. It’s the little things.
here’s how you make flaked salmon with sesame noodles!
Anyway, you need a nice boneless salmon filet. Get wild salmon if you possibly can, and if you can get Pacific wild salmon, even better! Happily my market has all kinds of salmon, so I was able to get a gorgeous piece of wild salmon.
I basted it with a little sesame oil and popped it in the oven for about 15 minutes, which was enough to cook it through to the perfect amount of tenderness.
Meantime, I cooked up a pot of linguine, and tossed it with a combination of soy sauce, sesame oil, vinegar, a shake of hot sauce and a few other things. Once the salmon was out of the oven, I gently pulled it apart into large flakes and then I was ready to put it all together on my fish plate.
A bed of sesame linguine, topped with flaked salmon, some chopped romaine and a scattering of those black sesame seeds. I drizzled just a little of the mixture that the pasta was tossed with on top, and dinner was ready.
I think the sesame seeds add just the right amount of pizzazz, don’t you?
Anyway, if anyone has any favorite salmon recipes that I can try next, let me know! We are still not over our salmon love affair, and I need more ideas. With or without sesame seeds!
