This easy recipe for Prosecco Margaritas takes two of your favorites and turns them into one festive cocktail! Perfect for Cinco de Mayo.
Hello friends – how are we all doing these days? I am going back and forth between All The Comfort Food and All The Festive Food in an effort to make staying at home as interesting as possible.
And as I mentioned in my last post, the next upcoming holiday is Cinco de Mayo!
Since I am staying at home and therefore unable to have one of my brother Bill’s AMAZING margaritas, I had to take matters into my own hands, which is why we are discussing Prosecco Margaritas today.
As usual, this is as inauthentic a margarita as you can find, but I figure all bets are off these days, and since I love prosecco, I figured why the heck not?
(Side note that has nothing to do with margaritas, my hair is now SO DANG LONG that even my longest favorite earrings from ElisabethSpace are no longer visible. SOB.)
My hair is naturally wavy in its un-blow-dried form, so for the first time in decades I am considering letting it air-dry. Which would make it shorter and reveal my earrings.
Then I will remember that my hair in its natural crazy half wavy state is alarming, and I will go back to the blow-dryer.
Where was I?
Here’s how you make Prosecco Margaritas!
First off, you need a lotta limes.
It takes about 4 limes to make each margarita, and I promise you that people around you are going to want one as well, so if you can nab one of those mesh bags of limes in the supermarket, that is perfect.
You are also going to need tequila, Triple sec, proscecco, sugar, and simple syrup. Simple syrup is simply sugar that has been melted in hot water, and it is super simple to make! Here’s my friend Ree’s easy method.
Pour the lime juice, tequila, Triple sec and simple syrup into a pitcher and stir until it is all mixed up.

Now grab the nearest glass, run a piece of lime around the edge to get it a little wet, and then dunk it into a plate of sugar. I know, margaritas are usually rimmed in salt, but these are not as sweet as the classic ones…hence the sugar!
Fill that glass with ice, fill it half full of the tequila mixture and then pour in prosecco until the glass is full.
All that’s left to do now is to say cheers!
Cheers to all of you from the Southern husband and me. And stay safe.

Well, since lime juice is in the citrus family, like orange juice, this would be perfect for breakfast, right? :) I saw your air dried, wavy hair on Face Book and thought it looked really cute! We will all probably be going back to feathered bangs if the salons don’t open up soon!
Ha! Breakfast sounds perfect to me – especially with wavy hair! :) :)
