Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 pound filet tenderloin or strip steak
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • Canola oil for basting

Instructions

  1. If you are using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 15 minutes. Heat the grill to high.
  2. Cut your steak into 1 inch cubes.
  3. Mix all the spices together and put them in a bowl with the steak cubes. Stir until the cubes are coated with spices.
  4. Thread the skewers with steak cubes alternated with cherry tomatoes and brush with a little oil.
  5. Grill for 3-4 minutes total for medium rare, turning them over once, and serve! (If you have used metal skewers, it’s best to remove the steak and tomatoes first before serving, as it takes metal skewers a while to cool down.)

Notes

    • Steak: You want a cut of steak that will cook quickly on the grill and still be tender. We recommend a filet tenderloin or a strip steak – both of them are easy to cut into cubes and cook up quickly with a lovely tender result!

    • Spices: This combo of spices will give a mild zing to your steak. If you want things hotter, you can add a teaspoon of chili powder to the mix. 🔥

    • Cherry tomatoes: Cherry tomatoes are the perfect size and shape for these skewers. If you want to add other veggies, we recommend chunks of zucchini or yellow squash, slices of pepper, mushrooms…you can even use pineapple chunks for a hint of sweetness!
