Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies

This easy recipe for cinnamon chocolate chip cookies adds some sweet spice to everyone’s favorite classic cookie. Perfect for the holidays!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 10 tablespoons butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate morsels
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 and line cookie sheets with parchment or a silicone mat.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  3. Cream butter and brown sugar in a mixer on medium high speed until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add egg and vanilla to butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Add flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Stir in chocolate morsels.
  7. Mix sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon together. Roll tablespoons of cookie dough into balls and roll in the cinnamon sugar.
  8. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on cookie sheet and bake until set, about 13 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet for about 5 minutes and then transfer to rack.
  9. Bet you can’t eat just one!

Notes

  • Cinnamon: You can find this flavorful spice in the baking aisle of your supermarket. Cinnamon is at its very best when it is under 6 to 8 months old.
  • Chocolate Chips: We like regular sized semi-sweet chips for this recipe, but you can use milk chocolate, dark chocolate or even mini chips.
