Molasses Chocolate Chunk Cookies

The only thing that could make molasses cookies even better? Chocolate! Give this recipe for molasses chocolate chunk cookies a try and have a treat that is the best of both cookie worlds!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups  sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda and set aside.
  3. Mix the granulated sugar and molasses until well combined.
  4. Put the melted butter in a mixing bowl and add the sugar mixture. Cream  for about 3 minutes.
  5. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and mix until well combined. Slowly add the flour mixture until thoroughly combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Chill the dough for about 20 minutes, then scoop onto the lined cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
