Okay, so let’s first discuss creamed spinach. It’s a decadent concoction of spinach and cream and butter, and pretty much you either love or you absolutely don’t.

Kind of the way these two apparently feel about the Yankees. They don’t love them. They do love our living room chairs.

And no, that one on the right is not ours, even though I keep begging his person to let me keep him. He’s our Winnie’s bestie, and I’m pretty sure he would be all in on the pasta with creamed spinach sauce.

So here’s the best way I can describe this dish, which is to ask you to close your eyes and imagine a plate of creamy Fettucine Alfredo meeting a bowl of dreamy creamed spinach. Toss in some walnuts for crunch and there you are.

It’s a decadantly delicious recipe that comes together in less than 30 minutes, but is 100% dinner party-worthy!

How To Make Pasta with Creamed Spinach Sauce!

Cook some fettuccine according to package directions in heavily salted water.  Scoop out a cup of pasta water and set it aside before you drain it.

While the pasta is cooking, let’s make the sauce!  Put some butter and a clove of minced garlic in a large deep skillet over medium high heat until the butter is melted.   Add some baby  spinach and cook it up until it is wilted.

Pour in some heavy cream and bring it to a simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.  Add the cooked pasta and give it a few good tosses with tongs until everything is mixed together well.

Give it a taste and add salt and pepper as needed.

More tips for making pasta with creamed spinach sauce!

Can I use a different kind of pasta for this recipe?

You sure can, as long as it is a sturdy one. Thinner pasta like angel hair won’t hold up under this hearty sauce, but linguine, penne or bow-ties would all be great.

Can I use regular spinach?

Yep! You will want to give it a good chop before you cook it so that the pieces are roughly bite-sized.

Can I leave out the nuts?

You can – I added them to add some crunch along with the creaminess, but they are optional (and you can alsouse different ones if you aren’t a walnut person).

Divide your creamy dreamy pasta among bowls, sprinkle with some chopped walnuts and a little grated parmesan cheese and serve it up! Creamy, dreamy pasta deliciousness!

This is wonderful and next time will add about a cup of well drained, chopped marinated artichoke hearts and some extra cheese (Mozzrella – 1/2 cup) as well as 1/2 cup Parm in the sauce. and it will be like eating this dish with spinach/artichoke dip. Thanks for sharing
