This easy, pretty mimosa fruit salad pairs your favorite brunch cocktail with colorful fruit for the perfect delicious treat!
Now that we are almost one year into multigenerational living (can you believe it??) it’s been wonderful to settle into this new kind of life, which works mainly of course because we all get along so well.
Interestingly, the one area where we tend to diverge is, um, COCKTAILS. The Southern husband is definitely a white wine kinda guy. My sweet son-in-law is not a fan of white or red, but he does like a good local craft beer.
The women of the house are united in our love of a good pinot noir and a margarita here and there, so there’s that.
But the one area where the four of us are fully united? A really good mimosa!
What is a mimosa and how do you make one?
A mimosa is the one cocktail I can make completely from memory, because it is half orange juice and half champagne or Prosecco.
Here’s a great recipe if you decide to try it for yourself, which I highly recommend doing while you are making a mimosa fruit salad!
How to make a mimosa fruit salad
First you want to get yourself some watermelon, some strawberries and some blueberries. The blueberries will take care of themselves, but go ahead and cut up the melon and the strawberries into nice bite-sized pieces.
(Strawberries are obviously a key ingredient in this recipe, and here’s a handy guide to everything you need to know about buying, storing and prepping these delicious fruits. And while blueberries are a little more care-free, here’s some info on those as well!)
Combine all this delectable fruit in a pretty bowl and gently toss.
Next! Combine a half cup of orange juice (I like to used fresh squeezed for this recipe) and a half cup of champagne or Prosecco in a measuring cup and drizzle over the fruit.
Now all that’s left to do is garnish it with some fresh mint if you have any handy and serve it up!
More tips for making a mimosa fruit salad!
Absolutely! I picked out these fruits because they are my faves, but the sky is the limit in terms of what you choose. Other kinds of melon, pineapple, blackberries and peach slices would all be great choices.
You can definitely prepare the fruit ahead of time, but add the juice and champagne at the last minute so the bubbles are fresh.
Yep! Swap in some lemon-lime seltzer or soda for the champagne to get the bubbles without the buzz.
Ask it in the comment section below and I will get back to you pronto!
I think this is a salad that we can all agree makes brunch a little merrier, right?
And cheers to that!
