This week’s meal planner includes how to grill the perfect steak, an egg sandwich that will knock your socks off, and the best way to celebrate National Watermelon Day!
Hi my friends, and here comes your meal planner to kick off the first week of (can you believe it?) August!
Yes, it is all kinds of hazy hot and humid, but it’s also National Peach Month and National Sandwich Month, and you know I have all kinds of peach and sandwich deliciousness planned out for you throughout the month.
If you want to get directly to this week’s recipes, just scroll on down. But if you want some color commentary on why I picked what I picked, read on!
I figured now that we are definitely smack in the middle of grilling season, I would start things off with a post I call How To Grill A Perfect Steak. Which then you can use for supper and save the leftovers for a lovely steak salad!
More in a chicken kinda mood? One of the most popular recipes on this site is Chicken in Buttered White Wine Sauce, and I’m thinking you can tell from the title what this one is all about.
Meanwhile, my basil is still in full swing, so it’s definitely time for some pesto. As in, Blue Cheese Pesto Pasta. Yum, yum, and yum again!
Lately I’ve been in love with sheet pan recipes (hey, what’s not to love about suppers that cook up all in one pan?) and this Sheet Pan Pineapple Shrimp has a lovely summery vibe to it.
This week’s light meal is OF COURSE a sandwich to kick off National Sandwich Month, and it’s a decadent one. It includes eggs. And Brie cheese. And bacon.
Okay, so maybe not the lightest meal I’ve ever created, but it’s Sandwich Month!
And this month we have what I like to call a liquid dessert, because August 3rd is National Watermelon Day, and I have a recipe for a Frozen Watermelon Frose that is just the ticket for a sultry summer evening.
As always, we will be sharing another new menu next Saturday morning, full of dinners that feature seasonal ideas and ingredients (and dessert!)
And as usual, I’m not giving you a recipe for all seven days of the week, because I’m a firm believer in taking a day or two off from the kitchen. This will also give you the chance to work in some of your own favorites – or just do takeout!
You can always find our previous menus here, in case you want to mix things up!
Meantime, happy August cooking!
Love, Kate
