This easy recipe for creamy mustard crab pasta is perfect for your next dinner party, and also comes together in a snap for a quick weeknight supper.

Creamy Mustard Crab Pasta

Okay, I am the first one to admit that crabmeat is a little spendy.  As in, I always do a double take when I see the price tag on that little innocent looking jar of crabmeat in the supermarket.  But 8 ounces of crabmeat goes a surprisingly long way, and every once in a while we deserve that spendy crabmeat! Especially when it turns into this super easy, super quick, super elegant recipe for creamy mustard crab pasta.  Let’s make it!

We have all kinds of reasons to celebrate with creamy mustard crab pasta, because the Southern daughter’s wedding is now just over 50 days away and the celebrations ARE HAPPENING.  This past weekend we had the first shower.  And oh, the excitement!

the bride

The bride was so beautiful and so excited, because the shower featured some fabulous things.

That picture above is from her Snapchat (one day I will figure out Snapchat.  HA.)  so you can see that she was a little happy about the beverage situation.

cupcakes

We also had cupcakes from the bakery that is doing her wedding cake, along with all kinds of other goodies.  And of course, there were shower games.

pin the mustache

Including this one where you were blindfolded and had to try and stick the mustache onto the groom.  I played of course…

…and most definitely did not win.  I did, however, win the game where you answer a bunch of questions about how well you know the bride.  Turns out I know her pretty well.  :)

There were also these adorable little plants that the guests got to take home as a memento of the shower…

The bride had the time of her life.  I love this picture of her with her maid of honor, who has been her best friend since they were five years old.

And I have to end my shower memories with this picture of the bride’s three aunties, who put on the whole thing.  It was AMAZING, and I loved this group hug they did at the end.  I love them all to bits.

Which leads me back to this super easy recipe for creamy mustard crab pasta, which comes together in a snap, and is all kinds of elegant and scrumptious.

Creamy Mustard Crab Pasta

It’s a quick mixture of pasta and a buttery sour cream sauce with mustard and that crabmeat.  It’s creamy and tangy and just plain delicious, so if you have something to celebrate (or if you just want a fabulous special pasta dish), give this one a try!

Love,

The Mother of the Bride :)

Description

This easy recipe for creamy mustard crab pasta is perfect for your next dinner party, and also comes together in a snap for a quick weeknight supper.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces short pasta (I used campanelle, but penne would work just as well)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons grainy mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces lump crabmeat
  • 4 scallions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions in heavily salted water. Drain and transfer to a large deep skillet.
  2. Mix the mustards with the sour cream.
  3. Add the butter and sour cream mixture to the pasta and toss over medium heat until everything is melted and combined.
  4. Add the crabmeat and scallions and stir until heated through.Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  5. Divide among heated plates and garnish with parsley and a little more fresh pepper.

Notes

This is a nice rich dish so I usually serve up a little less than the usual pasta recipe.  If you have big appetites at your table you might want to offer up a side salad and some warm bread on the side!

Looks delicious and I’ll be making it tonight! I don’t quite see where to add the butter though – should I melt it and mix into the sour cream along with the mustards? Thank you!

Omg never mind… it’s not “the butter and sour cream mixture”… it’s the butter, and the sour cream mixture ??
