Because it is the perfect combo of spicy and creamy. Because it is full of fresh summer herbs that give it that gorgeous green color. Because you can whirl it up in your blender in about 10 seconds.

Green Goddess dressing got its start back in the 1920’s in San Francisco (a city I will love forever because that is where the Southern husband proposed to me) and like so many goddesses that I know, it is not only beautiful but multi-talented.
Let’s Make Green Goddess Dressing!
First, the dressing itself: whirl up some mayo and buttermilk with scallions, parsley, tarragon, lemon juice and garlic and season it up with salt and pepper. That’s going to give you a lovely creamy tangy spicy salad dressing that is perfect with substantial lettuces like romaine and iceberg. Yum, YUM.

Nope – if you stir in a enough mayo to thicken it up into dip consistency, you have a smooth and sassy dip that is perfect for everything from carrot sticks to tortilla chips. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.
Pour a generous amount of Green Goddess over chicken pieces and let them marinate for a few hours, and then grill them up to spicy green goddess perfection, and serve with a drizzle of Green Goddess on top.

Creamy spicy green goddess dressing makes a fabulous marinade, dip and yes, salad dressing! Whirl some up in your blender and try it.
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 4 scallions, trimmed and chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon fresh tarragon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove
- Pinch each of salt and pepper
- Put all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Store in the fridge until ready to use.
Mix 1/2 cup mayo and 1/2 cup dressing together for a spicy creamy veggie dip. You can also marinate chicken in this dressing and grill it – make sure to drizzle some extra dressing on the top when you serve it up!
