Steak and eggs is one of those things that never tempts me on a menu. It's mainly found on breakfast menus, and at that time of the morning I am more of a french toast girl, or a pancake girl, or at most a eggs and corned beef hash girl. But we were recently at one of our favorite restaurants, and they had it as a appetizer on the dinner menu. I still wasn't tempted. But the Southern husband didn't even think twice - he pounced. And when it came, it changed my entire way of thinking about steak and eggs. It doesn't have to be a giant piece of steak topped with two fried eggs (although if that's the way you like your steak and eggs, go for it!). Nope, it can be a small tender piece of beef topped with one perfect poached egg, with a little green thrown in there. Whole steak and egg vistas have opened for me!

Pasta with Bacon Bread Crumbs http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/pasta-with-bacon-bread-crumbs.html http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/pasta-with-bacon-bread-crumbs.html#comments Tue, 26 May 2015 14:00:00 +0000 http://www.framedcooks.com/?p=15724 ---- If this post is not displaying properly, view it in your browser here: Pasta with Bacon Bread Crumbs ---

I think I have made my undying love for bacon abundantly clear to all of you over the years, so why it took me so long to figure out that pasta with bacon bread crumbs would be a good thing to make for supper is a mystery even to me. Pasta with bread crumbs has always been one of my go-to comfort and/or I-have-no-more-ideas-for-what-to-make-for-dinner recipes. But when you cook the breadcrumbs in bacon drippings they are crispy, and toss them with the pasta along with a little butter and parsley and red pepper and of course chopped bacon...well, the problem then becomes, will I ever be able to make anything ELSE for dinner now that I have realized the wonder that is pasta with bacon bread crumbs?

Tuna Farro Salad http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/tuna-farro-salad.html http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/tuna-farro-salad.html#comments Sun, 24 May 2015 14:00:00 +0000 http://www.framedcooks.com/?p=15721 ---- If this post is not displaying properly, view it in your browser here: Tuna Farro Salad ---

We are down to the last hours before the first holiday weekend of Summer 2015, and if you are in charge of the eats, I'm thinking you have your main course all ready to roll. My dad's recipe for Coca-Cola Ribs has moved into the first place position on this site as folks get ready to fire up the grill. But if you are still working on ideas for fun and festive sides, I'm here to put in my vote for this delectable tuna farro salad. Hearty, healthy and a good alternative if you have any non-meat-eaters in the crowds, and it stars my all-time favorite grain, the scrumptious farro. And while you CAN sub in other grains (more on that later), if you haven't tried the deliciousness that is farro, here's your chance!

Grilled Tarragon Mustard Steak http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/grilled-tarragon-mustard-steak.html http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/grilled-tarragon-mustard-steak.html#comments Thu, 21 May 2015 14:00:00 +0000 http://www.framedcooks.com/?p=15706 ---- If this post is not displaying properly, view it in your browser here: Grilled Tarragon Mustard Steak ---

Oh, this grilled tarragon mustard steak! Is your grill open for the season yet? I have to confess that ours never closes, because I usually get a hankering for something grilled smack in the middle of February, and the hardy Southern husband shovels through the snowbanks to our grill and fires it up. But if you are on a more reasonable grilling schedule and you are looking for an easy and delicious steak recipe to kick things off, this is one of my faves. Steak marinated in white wine and mustard sauce with some fresh tarragon, and just like that, summer grilling season is OPEN!

Mason Jar Veggie Macaroni and Cheese http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/mason-jar-veggie-macaroni-and-cheese.html http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/mason-jar-veggie-macaroni-and-cheese.html#comments Tue, 19 May 2015 14:00:00 +0000 http://www.framedcooks.com/?p=15705 ---- If this post is not displaying properly, view it in your browser here: Mason Jar Veggie Macaroni and Cheese ---

This mason jar veggie macaroni and cheese is not my usual approach. When it comes to mac and cheese, I tend to be a make-it-from-scratch kind of girl, and I have a number of recipes right here on the blog that let you do just that. But every once in a while, you need to go for the box. You know the box I am talking about - the macaroni and packet of cheese mixture that we all lived on during those college and just past college days that sometimes meant the difference between supper and no supper. Boxed macaroni and cheese has come a loooong way since my college days, and when you add in veggies AND serve it out of a mason jar...it can be one fine, quick, economically delicious supper.

Lobster Potato Salad http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/lobster-potato-salad.html http://www.framedcooks.com/2015/05/lobster-potato-salad.html#comments Sun, 17 May 2015 14:00:00 +0000 http://www.framedcooks.com/?p=15700 ---- If this post is not displaying properly, view it in your browser here: Lobster Potato Salad ---

Hello, lobster potato salad season! We've flipped the thermostat over from Heat to Cool, and there have officially been several days that have warmed their way into the 80's, and in our house that means dinner salads are going to show up regularly on the menu. And since potato salad and lobster in absolutely any form are two of my favorite things, I am officially declaring dinner salad season open with a combo of the two. This version of lobster potato salad also features cheery crunchy celery, a handful of chives and a super easy sour cream mustard white wine dressing. Because when you declare dinner salad season open, you want to do it in STYLE.
